The AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest ongoing community art project in the world. The Quilt began as a single panel measuring three feet tall by six feet wide, created in San Francisco in 1987. Today, it contains more than 49,000 panels commemorating the lives of people who have died of AIDS. This exhibition presents four distinct panels, each created by a family member, friend, or loved one of a person who lived in El Paso, TX and passed away from an AIDS-related illness. Together, the panels of The AIDS Memorial Quilt reveal the humanity behind the statistics.
